My 15 Seconds of Fame ~ Entertainment Weekly

If you buy this week's Entertainment Weekly, the one with the Governator on the cover, you'll find that Arnold Schwarzenegger is returning to the movies! And if that's not enough (and it well could be), on page 63, in that very same magazine, you'll find my name.

I love that they used "DIY." I know it was in reference to Amanda Hocking, but it definitely applies to me as well. I was honored to be included in this list of authors--all of them pioneers in this new e-book world.

Plus, I had no idea I might be scooped up soon.

And if that wasn't enough excitement for one week--I also had two books come out on April 1st under the AmazonEncore imprint. Both of my young adult novels, Favorite and Life On Hold were released that day in paperback and Kindle.

In honor of two books coming out in one day, a few sites are doing book giveaways:

J The website, Freebookfriday.com is also having a giveaway of my two teen novels. Just visit the site from now until April 8th, and fill out your name and email address for a chance to be chosen.

J At I Am a Reader, Not a Writer, you can leave a comment and your email address from now until April 28th to enter a drawing. You can also read an interview with some out-of-the-ordinary questions and some goofy answers. I was in a silly mood at the time.

J And last, but certainly not least, author Jenny Milchman, invited me to her site, Suspense Your Disbelief, to tell the story of how I came to write my novel, Favorite. Besides giving me space on her site, Jenny is also giving away a copy of Favorite to one lucky commenter.

That's all for now.

Later!

Karen

Congratulations on your 15 seconds! I read it in my copy of EW and was very excited that for once I was on the cutting edge of something since I read Easily Amused a few months ago.
Good luck on your upcoming scoop!

Thanks, Virginia! I kind of feel like the scoop thing already happened, but I'm open to other good things. Like,if there are any movie producers out there who want to make my stories into films, I'm available to talk. :-)

Wow. What a milestone!

Tell me, how many copies did you buy? I'd enough to wallpaper the guest room.

That is so exciting Karen! I have to go run out and pick up a copy. You know, so I can point it out to people and say "I knew her when..."

Congrats on the fame and the two book release. I will be uploading them as soon as I get home. Also wanted to thank you for your advice in talking in front of crowds. (A lot different than the classroom) I was the featured author at a local school districts Family Literacy Night. I had heard horror stories about trying to sell novels at such an event but the book went fast and sold seventeen and I only had twenty. I gave three away as prizes at a raffle at the end of the night.
Wow, sorry to drone on but thank you.

PV--I only bought one. It didn't occur to me to buy more. Maybe because I'm trying to declutter my house already. :)

Pam, thanks for stopping by and for the nice comment.

Rex--I hate photos, but maybe we can get a group shot in when we're in NYC for the Book Expo.

Hey, Jools! You have a new book? And the title is "44"? Very cool.

Hi Dody, didn't I just see you? Ha! Thanks for your kind words.

Sean, I had a feeling that was you! Congrats on the successful turn as featured author. I'm not surprised.
