Ta da! A book trailer for Secrets of the Magic Ring

The short video below is a trailer for my book, Secrets of the Magic Ring. I asked the illustrator, Vincent Desjardins, if he'd be interested in creating a trailer for the book and luckily for me, he was willing, and he also had time in his schedule to do the work. The illustrations are from the book and he also shot all of the background photos and the video. All of it was put together using FotoMagico and iMovie. I was thrilled with the end result.

I don't know how effective book trailers are as marketing tools, but I know that kids love visuals and I hope this will generate interest in the book, (which by the way, comes out on November 8th).

AWESOME!!! That was so great. I agree that kids love to see the visuals. I know when I have done talks at schools I always show them the book trailers and they gi nuts for them. My daughter and I are about 3/4 of the way through the book. She started school so we are reading what comes home. I am sure you understand, but she and I love it. I am guess, and it should be done, to have a third book to complete the trilogy? Maybe? Would be fun to kick around some ideas.

Just great.

I really LOVE the book trailer! I also wonder about their effectiveness as marketing tools. But I still enjoy watching great looking ones like this. :)

I love this movie trailer, I have no idea how motivating these are, but I really enjoyed this, and I'm drawn to know more. I can't wait to read this Karen :).

Karen,

Is it possible to have these trailers in ebooks? Like a "coming attractions" kinda thing like in the movies? I read Konrath's idea about ads in ebooks and I think a step further and more enticing is having the book trailers as your ads. Just a thought.

Wow! Judging from the comments, the book trailer is a hit! I loved it, but of course I'm biased.

Thanks to everyone who left a comment. I know it takes some effort and I really appreciate it.

Sean, I've actually considered making this a series. Great minds think alike. :) And to answer your question--I don't honestly know if there's a way to embed a book trailer into an ebook. My bet is that if the technology's not there yet, it will be soon.
